Is swine flu putting pressure on your practice?
Your insurance policy can help!
Our customers tell us their surgeries are coming under pressure
managing the swine flu pandemic. The absence of doctors, dentists,
vets or other staff, and spreading the virus are major
concerns.
We recommend you review your current locum/practice benefits insurance policies,
particularly checking that all key staff are covered for both
sickness and accident absence. Also check the level of weekly
benefit is adequate to hire a replacement or pay your surgery
overheads.
How can we help if a family member contracts swine flu
If a member of your family contracts swine flu, you may need to
take time off work, not only to look after them, but also to
prevent the spread of the virus within the surgery. Our Assured and
Select insurance policies not only protect the insured members if
they become unwell, they also include family emergency cover.
Benefit from family emergency cover
Following your nominated excess period, this provides up to 4
weeks of benefit for the surgery to enlist a replacement, should
the partner or dependants of an insured member become ill. This
enables the staff member to stay at home to care for them without
your practice bearing the cost.

p.s. GP surgery policy - vaccine cover
Although a vaccine isn't available yet, when it arrives you will
need to ensure your surgery policy provides you with sufficient
protection for the value of the stock you have at risk. Our surgery
policy is very flexible on vaccine cover limit; please give us a
call on 0800 013 777 to discuss your
requirements.
