Risky business: Help when you need it
Whilst indemnity cover is compulsory, some practioners often
find it hard to arrange. Those who perform high risk
procedures can often be considered persona non grata by
indemnifiers, keen to tighten belts and minimise potential
problems. Even past history is playing a role, as
indemnifiers differentiate increasingly between claimants and non
claimants.
The result can be alarming. Medical and caring professionals are
either being denied cover outright, or having what seems like
punitive terms applied to their cover.
Open door approach
Towergate MIA welcome professionals from all medical and
caring backgrounds. We operate an open-door approach to
medical indemnity, specialising in bespoke insurance based on the
merits of each individual.
So whether you have an interesting past history or regularly

Be prepared!
With Towergate MIA, reliable advice goes hand-in-hand with
reliable protection.
- Understand it! - If you have insurance cover
which refers to claims made, this means the policy protects you for
complaints or claims made against you, or treatments given by you
to patients, during the life of your policy.
- Report it! - Many matters are resolved quickly
and do not go any further. It is vitally important you report
anything that could lead to a complaint or claim against you. If
not reported as soon as possible, the indemnifier can decline to
assist you, because you knew a patient was dissatisfied but didn't
tell them.
- Discuss it! - Our experienced claims team is
here to help. Should anything concern you, a simple call to one of
our advisors will help clarify your situation and put your mind at
rest.
